Paul Rodriguez for Ward 6 2013
Las Vegas is the greatest city in the world bar none. Our greatest strength is our diversity in both racial and economic differences. We are people who know how to rise up to the occasion by being an example to follow, not an excuse to hide behind. We are surrounded with good God fearing people who truly cares about our city, its challenges, opportunities and its citizens. Las Vegas needs leadership that's willing to stand behind solid values and principles in managing this city without leverage from outside influence. A leader of the people for the people that will represent our city with moral ethics, integrity and honesty regardless of popularity or party affiliations.
I grew up in Las Vegas, I attended William E. Orr Junior High School and Valley High School. I had the privilege of serving in the United States Air Force and returned to Las Vegas to marry my high school sweetheart. We started Paul's Extermination, a local and family owned pest control business and have been serving our great city for the last 5 years.
I am no stranger to hardship, 3rd of 4 siblings, I was raised by a single parent. My mother, the single most influential woman in my life. A woman who, if I was to become half the person she ever was, would be one of the greatest personal accomplishment I could ever achieve in life. She worked multiple jobs to provide for 4 kids and a grandmother. Though we did not have much, she always found a way to make ends meet even if it meant she went without. My wife ( the most honest person I know) has been the compass that's kept me centered, the anchor that's kept me grounded and the foundation that's kept me solid and steady. These family values and principles have been a pillar in the actions and decisions I have made in my adult life.
Having said that, our city is and has been in great hardship for the greater part of this past decade with very little or no signs of a better economic future. We have serious issues that requires serious leadership efforts to resolve. Definition of “Insanity”, doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result. We need a change, a real change that will make a difference in improving public safety, economic growth, job creation and transparency. Not just say “public safety is a priority”, but have a viable plan to improve public safety, which I do. Not just say “I support the small businesses”, but have a viable plan to help not just small, but all local businesses be more successful, which I do. Not just say “I want to create jobs”, but have a viable plan to create them, which I do. And manage Las Vegas with complete transparency, availability and accountability to the people and businesses of this city.
